Dark Sky Awareness Workshop for Educators & Students
Save Darkness invites school teachers, principals, and student leaders to a comprehensive workshop on integrating dark sky awareness into school curricula. This full-day workshop will equip educators with the knowledge, tools, and materials to teach students about light pollution and its effects.
Workshop Agenda
- Session 1 (10:00-11:30): Understanding Light Pollution — science, causes, and consequences
- Session 2 (11:45-13:00): Impact on Wildlife and Human Health — case studies from India
- Lunch Break (13:00-14:00)
- Session 3 (14:00-15:30): Teaching Light Pollution — curriculum integration, activities, and assessment methods
- Session 4 (15:45-17:00): Hands-on Practice — conducting a mini light audit, using sky quality meters, and planning school projects
Takeaways
All participants will receive a complete Dark Sky Education Kit including lesson plans, presentation slides, activity worksheets, and a sky quality meter for their school. Certificates of participation will be provided.
